The HydraFacial Laser Facial Miracle Combo
I’ve always been and still am a huge fan, believer, and preacher of natural skin care. I only use the cleanest and most natural products on my face and found that (for me) it rendered great results and better skin! I still wanted to take my skincare to the next level and figured “Hey, why not try a facial?”. I went to Petals Laser Lounge in NYC to see what all the hype is about the coveted HydraFacial and Laser Facial/
What is a HydraFacial?
A quick rundown about the HydraFacial: It uses hydra-dermabrasion to exfoliate the skin and vacuums dirt out of your pores while simultaneously infusing your skin with natural acids, peptides, and hydration. Its wild, it’s amazing, my skin felt phenomenal. I knew right then and there that I’ve become brand loyal to this life-changing facial (and to Petals!) and that I was coming back for my follow up session. The great thing about HydraFacial is that over time and consistent visits, your skin becomes visibly brighter and your fine lines start to fade.
Let’s Talk About Laser Facials
Everyone is talking about laser facials these days but I thought of the idea of the little snapping sensation from laser hair removal on my face and I was immediately like “NO THANK YOU”. Except, as usual, I jumped to conclusions and I was absolutely wrong. As usual, my technician explained every single thing in detail to me before I was comfortable with going ahead with the treatment.
Benefits of Laser Facials
Laser facials can and will help reduce: skin imperfections, fine lines, wrinkles, small veins, sun damage, dark spots, rosacea, scars, and shrink and tighten pores. I mean honestly- is there anything it can’t do?! The bottom line of laser facials is that it cleans, clears, and perfects your skin from the inside out – opposed to HydraFacial which clears the skin from the outside which is why they complement each other beautifully. But we’ll get back to that.
Types of Lasers
There are two types of laser facials to be aware of: ablative and non-ablative. Ablative lasers address imperfections on the skin but require downtime because they are more aggressive and may cause damage. While the procedure is noninvasive, the downtime is similar to one of surgery. Non-ablative lasers like the one used at Petals still clears imperfections on the skin but is far less aggressive and requires no downtime at all.
Combining Laser Facial with HydraFacial
A note of warning: DO NOT get your laser and HydraFacial on the same day. Your technician should always explain your treatments to you, but just in case – don’t. Both of these treatments show immediate results and continue to deliver far more dramatic and long-lasting results over time. Putting them both into your skin care on a regularly rotating schedule will present flawless results. However, they need to be spaced apart. The HydraFacial acts as an exfoliator and infuses the skin with helpful acids, but combined immediately with a laser facial can cause irreparable damage to the skin. Spacing your two facials a couple of weeks apart will save you from this tragedy. Many clients choose to alternate their facials monthly. One month Hydra, next month laser, and so on.
Either one of these facials leaves you with lasting and promising results, but the combination of the two will leave you standing in front of your mirror, admiring your skin for hours.
Overall Consensus:
My skin felt insanely soft after both facials. My complexion was glowing, and my pores were tighter, cleaner, and rejuvenated. I’m excited to see the long-term results of the combo of both facials for the future. Remember to always speak with a technician in depth about your skin, concerns, and questions, before going into any treatment or procedure. And most importantly: drink your water and always moisturize!
